About Megan
As a Counselling Psychologist, I work with children and teens who face challenges related to:
-
Separation Anxiety
-
Performance Anxiety
-
General Anxiety
-
Perfectionism
Some children and teens experience symptoms of depression or low mood along with anxiety. I can support children and teens in this area as well.

With my experience of living as an expat in the Netherlands for 6 years, I worked with a lot of children and teens who faced experiences of anxiety or low mood due to change, uncertainty and unpredictability that is accompanied by expat life and I witnessed how that affected their ability to function and thrive in their daily lives. I have a background in teaching & learning support and believe that this also greatly contributes to the support I can provide to schools to support your child's wellbeing.

In May 2024 I returned to South Africa and look forward to supporting children and teens in and around South Africa, as well as abroad, who might be witnessing that anxiety or low mood is getting in the way of their ability to live fulfilled, centred lives.

I like to incorporate different theories and modalities in my work such as: Polyvagal Theory, Narrative Therapy, Person-Centred Approach, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and so forth. I work from a strengths-based perspective, seeing each client as fully capable to find their inner ability to not only understand their experience of anxiety and learn to cope with it, but to rise above it and live as an empowered resilient being!

I believe that forming a team around the child along with the parent(s) is what contributes to success in therapy. We cannot expect to see the desired change in our children's lives if we as parents aren't willing to also do the work to support the change!
"I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it." Maya Angelou
Therapy sessions/ parent coaching sessions take place online and can be conducted in English or Afrikaans. I am not contracted by medical insurances in South Africa or abroad and therefore charge parents directly for each therapy/coaching session.
